Metaphor of life D

About the Artwork

Metaphor of Life – D is an original contemporary abstract painting by Indian artist Apurva Singh, exploring the interconnected and constantly evolving nature of life through colour, fragmented forms and expressive line.

The painting unfolds through a fresh palette of turquoise, aqua blue, soft green, lime green, ochre, beige and white. The lighter background creates an open, atmospheric space, while the more concentrated layers in the centre and lower portion of the composition create a sense of growth, movement and visual accumulation.

A network of overlapping shapes moves throughout the painting. Some forms appear organic and fluid, while others take on a more geometric character. They seem to connect, overlap and transform into one another, creating a visual language that suggests the way life is formed through relationships, experiences and continuous change.

The central cluster becomes the emotional and visual core of the composition. Its dense layering contrasts with the quieter areas around it, allowing the viewer's eye to move between moments of openness and complexity. Fine hand-drawn lines further activate the surface, revealing another layer beneath the blocks of colour.

The work does not attempt to represent a specific landscape or object. Instead, it creates an abstract environment of forms and sensations, leaving space for the viewer to discover their own associations. Organic shapes can suggest growth, natural structures, human presence or fragments of an imagined landscape.

The restrained use of warm ochre and yellow against the dominant blue-green palette introduces subtle warmth and prevents the composition from becoming purely cool. This balance gives the painting a calm yet energetic character.

Through layered colour, fragmented forms and expressive drawing, Metaphor of Life – D reflects the idea that life is not a fixed structure but an ever-changing network of connections, memories and experiences.
