Metaphor of life B

About the Artwork

Metaphor of Life – B is an original contemporary abstract painting by Indian contemporary artist Apurva Singh.

The painting unfolds through a luminous palette of mint green, turquoise, aqua blue, lime, soft yellow, beige and white, creating a sense of freshness, openness and movement. The lighter tones form an atmospheric background, while the denser arrangement of fragmented forms gradually builds toward the centre and lower areas of the composition.

The artwork is constructed through overlapping organic and geometric shapes, with each form appearing to connect with or emerge from another. Some shapes suggest leaves, natural structures or architectural fragments, while others remain deliberately ambiguous. This shifting relationship between recognisable and abstract forms gives the painting a sense of continuous transformation.

Fine drawn lines move across the painted surface, adding another layer of visual information. These delicate marks contrast with the broader colour fields and create a subtle network of connections throughout the composition.

The central cluster carries greater visual density, while the surrounding open areas allow the composition to breathe. This contrast between density and openness creates rhythm and guides the viewer through the painting.

The dominant green and turquoise tones evoke associations with growth, renewal and the natural world, while the touches of blue introduce a quieter, contemplative quality. Warm ochre and beige elements provide balance and prevent the cool palette from becoming uniform.

At its core, Metaphor of Life – B reflects on life as an interconnected process. Forms overlap, separate and transform, suggesting how experiences, relationships and memories continually shape one another.

Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, the painting invites the viewer to discover their own interpretation within its layered abstract landscape. Its visual language combines contemporary abstraction, expressive drawing and fragmented forms to create a work that feels both energetic and meditative.
