About the Artwork

This original contemporary abstract painting by Apurva Singh explores the fragmented nature of human presence, relationships and everyday life through layered forms, colour and expressive mark-making.

The composition unfolds through a delicate palette of warm beige, ivory, ochre, muted peach, dusty pink and soft blue, punctuated by stronger passages of cobalt blue, red and earthy tones. Broad translucent shapes overlap with more concentrated areas of colour, creating a visual tension between openness and density.

Within the composition, loosely suggested human-like forms appear and dissolve into the surrounding abstract structures. They are not presented as conventional portraits or clearly defined figures; instead, they function as fragments of people, memories, encounters and emotions. Fine gestural lines move across these forms, creating connections between different areas of the painting.

The extensive use of pale, almost empty spaces gives the work a sense of silence and contemplation, while the more intensely worked sections introduce movement and psychological energy. This contrast creates the feeling of a constantly changing inner and outer world.

Small fragments of printed text and collage-like elements further connect the painting with contemporary urban life and the visual information that surrounds us. These details become part of the larger abstract language rather than forming a literal narrative.

The painting invites the viewer to construct their own interpretation. Figures, spaces and objects seem to emerge momentarily before becoming part of the larger composition, reflecting how memory, perception and human interactions are continuously reconstructed in the mind.

Apurva Singh's approach combines contemporary abstraction, mixed-media techniques, expressive drawing and layered colour, creating an artwork that balances emotional sensitivity with visual complexity.
